On Monday 25th February 2019, Coghlans at Barningham, Barningham, is celebrating Real Bread Week with free bread tastings! To celebrate Coghlans are giving away free bread tastings at a number of retailers across Teesdale, including Mcfarlane Family Butchers in Barnard Castle, Cotherstone Post Office in Cotherstone, East Cowton Community Shop in East Cowton and Cafe Fresh in Middleton-In-Teesdale.
Created and run by the Real Bread Campaign, Real Bread Week is the annual international celebration of additive-free loaves and the people who make them. Each year sees local bakeries, baking schools and other organisations around the UK and beyond sharing the delicious delights of Real Bread.
Coghlan’s owner, Janet Coghlan, said: “We’re very excited to get involved with this year’s Real Bread Week and are hoping we can entice new people to give up their supermarket bread for bread that not only uses no additives or preserves but supports our local retailers and businesses”.
Real Bread Campaign coordinator, Chris Young, added: “Real Bread bakeries like Coghlans play a really important role in their local communities, providing not only great, all-natural food but also helping to keep the high street alive. Real Bread Week is a delicious chance for everyone in the area to get along to show their support.”
We Are Real Bread
As well as being all-natural, one of the things that set Real Bread apart from industrial loaf fabricators’ products is that it’s crafted by people. Launched during Real Bread Week, We Are Real Bread is a new initiative to reveal the many, varied and often hidden faces behind the rise of Real Bread. Everyone making Real Bread is encouraged to post their baker-at-work #WeAreRealBread selfies on social media.
Founded in 2016, Coghlan’s Artisan Bakery is proud to bake loaves that are 100% free of artificial additives of any kind. Now, in 2019 Coghlans is to launch a new sough dough bread to join their extensive range of artisan products. Available exclusively to order at their Bakery.
The Real Bread Campaign is part of the food and farming charity Sustain. Starting from the basic definition of Real Bread as made without any artificial additives, the Campaign’s mission is to find and share ways to make bread better for us, better for our communities and better for the planet.
