About Coghlans at Barningham

Coghlans at Barningham was created by Janet Coghlan to focus on premium-quality food and service across every aspect of hospitality and catering — from intimate dinner parties to large functions, weddings and events throughout Teesdale, Richmond and North Yorkshire.

Thirty years of premium hospitality

With more than thirty years in hospitality, Janet’s career began at the five-star Turnberry resort in Ayrshire, followed by a period of front-of-house management for the Swallow Hotel Group — including the opening of their five-star Birmingham hotel. She went on to focus on her own business, first at the highly rated Manor House restaurant with rooms near Sheffield, before opening Coghlans Cookery School in 2002.

Crafted by a dedicated team

Today, Janet oversees the team of chefs and bakers that make up Coghlans at Barningham, adding her creative styling to both product packaging and presentation. Our small team works tirelessly to bring that special extra dimension to everything we do — whether it’s a dinner party, a large function, or the simplest loaf of bread baked fresh each day at our artisan bakery.

That same passion for quality runs through Coghlans’ newest venture, Meals in Fields — premium lunches served on the moors for grouse, pheasant and sporting parties.

Janet is supported by her husband Andrew, who brings over thirty years of experience managing in the five-star sector and is an experienced broadcaster on his specialist subject of wine and champagne. Together they have built Coghlans at Barningham into an innovative, premium catering and hospitality company — a small, dedicated team able to respond flexibly to whatever your occasion calls for.
