Evening 3 course meal We visited here for the first time in a Thursday evening.
We arrived and there was plenty of parking, it’s a beautiful building from the outside and tastefully decorated inside. We were met in the porch way by a friendly staff and shown to our table.
The menu choice was for a 3,4 or 5 course meal we opted for the 3 courses.
We choose the starter of ham terrines and heritage tomatoes for starters. For mains we choose the sea bass with Thai stir fry and the wood pigeon. For puddings we choose the sticky toffee pudding and Elton mess.
All the food was presented nicely and very tasty. The complimentary bread and butter was lovely and first place I have been that gives you a selection of butter.
We would recommend a visit here. We have noticed they are currently on group on for a sparkling afternoon tea so will book this abs go back.
Simply the best We have had many cream teas in our lifetime none can compare to this tea experience. We enjoyed a delicious steak and a quiche and as the tea trays went by us we couldn’t resist a scone for dessert. The staff are magnificent in there customer service we happily left a 20% tip thanks once again for a memorable lunch better than we have had at Claridges in London.
Excellent, excellent, excellent Last night was my second visit to Coghlans. This time for my father's 70th birthday.
Still amazing. Still great service (whilst very busy) and still amazing food.
Every mouthful was an adventure in taste and how food should taste. A tomato salad, never thought a plate of tomatoes could taste so nice. Duck as rare as you dare and a salmon roulade with roe. Steak, cod and Teesdale lamb for mains all excellent. Rare lamb is definitely the way forwards. All finished off with local cheese .
Difficult to choose between this place and The Crown at Mickleton as to which is my favourite place to eat at the minute. The Sunday dinner is better here though.....
Afternoon Tea Greeted by a pleasant attentive waitress, we declined the prosecco, offered elderflower presse instead, which was lovely. Excellent selection of sandwiches, quiche, scones and cakes. A very beautiful old fashioned tea room in gorgeous village. Groupon Deal - great value.
This is truly the Rolls Royce of cream teas nothing will ever live up to this From the delicious sandwiches from the home made bread and generous fillings to the delicate flavours of the cakes and sweet offerings it’s just simply the best.
Combined with the sweetest and nicest server ever what’s not to love ?
Thank-you for a wonderful afternoon Coughlan’s you’re the best.
Very accommodating staff, two of us turned up as two wet, sweaty cyclists and we did not feel comfortable sitting inside in their pristine cafe, but they were more than happy for us to go inside. We politely declined and sat outside taking in the lovely views, just a bit chilly in the wind, but on a warm day, oh yes 🙂
