What are your thoughts when you hear that supermarkets are introducing ranges of high protein mince and sausages which actually contain upwards of 20% ground pea protein in them rather than relying on 100% beef ?
Lidl launched their ranges on 18 September including sausages that offer up to 50% more protein through its ground pea content.
We as a small farming community support our local farmers by only buying locally reared meat and our minced Beef is just that 100%
Some people might think that additional protein less meat therefore less natural fat and at a reduced cost is a good thing for them?
It would appear our customers just love natural Local traditional flavoursome beef from happy cows grass fed in the Northern Pennines and we will continue to use our 100% local beef in all our prepared meals
All we would say is check your labels and make sure you are getting what you expect and what you are paying for. We would hate for customers to be misled by supermarkets offering and labelling high protein meat when the actual meat content is much reduced !!

Thank you to everyone who came to Barningham today on what was an incredibly busy day
Sorry if you couldn’t get a table in the tearoom it was just super busy around 1230 to 230 at the peak time
I hope if you had a to queue a few minutes for service in the shop it was worth the wait some fantastic produce today including a 9 kg fresh locally landed Cod which we filleted and served as extra large portions probably the best fish we have sold this year
Restock and re charge and roll again for another busy week coming up
